In Memory of Salida’s William Boddy, 1950 – 2015

Say it isn’t so.

William Boddy, who would have turned 65 today, died unexpectedly at his gallery Sunday morning. He is survived by his wife Rosemary and the Salida community to which he gave so much of himself.

William was one of the first people I met when I moved to Salida. He was a fellow board member of the Salida Council for the Arts, musician, artist, and historical preservationist. His passion for public art led him to be a principal of the Public Art Task Force, and then a member of the city-appointed commission for public art. William’s double bass, bass guitar and vocals were regularly enjoyed around Salida.

William was also very spiritual, and read the Bible on a regular basis. He liked to talk about his spirituality.

William and I didn’t agree at times. I will miss those healthy disagreements, his art, his music, and his very large presence in Salida. I will miss his standing invitation to bring my dog Bodie into his gallery for some hugs and pets.

In memory of William Boddy, I am reposting the photos and article I wrote November 5, 2012, which centers around William’s restoration of my 1904 windows. Below is the link:
