Bat Rescue!

I’d never seen a bat in Salida, but apparently they are out there, because this one got stuck between a storm window that was partly open at the top, and the closed window (original 1904 double-hung).

It was there for a few days and couldn’t get out… couldn’t climb up the glass. Poor thing. So I got a long dog lead and a ladder, and draped it over the top opening onto the sill below where the bat was stuck.

He (or she) took about an hour to figure it out, but then climbed up the lead and made it to the top of the storm window, rested for a bit, and flew away.
